    Key Manufacturing Sites | Honeywell IA Nanjing Factory

    Nanjing Factory of Honeywell Industrial Automation (hereinafter referred to as "IA Nanjing Factory") is located in Nanjing Jiangning Hi-Tech Park. Since its establishment in 2007, this site has become a combined sensing and IoT solutions center of first-class in-house research and development, production, and process improvement.

    Sensors are the nervous system of the Internet of Things (IoT). The rapid development of IA Nanjing Factory is closely related to the booming IoT industry in China. Every year, this factory produces 300 million sensors, which means 9.5 sensors production per second! The quality of sensors directly affects the perceived source data and further data processing results, Nanjing site’s sensors are highly recognized by customers for their excellent product quality.

    Our sensors are used in the battery packs of electric vehicles.

    With the increasing popularity of sustainable energy, the safety issue and driving range constraint are both key concerns that people have against electric cars. Nanjing factory has provided targeted solutions - the current sensor can accurately measure the current in the battery pack, thus accurately predicting the remaining range of the vehicle, so that the owner can comfortably arrange the trip and avoid "range anxiety". The battery safety sensor can detect abnormalities in battery pack in advance and issue an alarm before the battery catches fire, giving passengers enough time to escape.

    To better protect people's property, engineers at the Nanjing plant are developing the next generation of battery safety sensors. This sensor will be able to predict battery pack abnormalities earlier, thus buying time to replace the battery pack and avoiding the fate of the car being burned.

    Our sensors are not only used in the energy industry.     Delayed gas and fire leak detection pose a massive threat to property, environment and human life. Honeywell's toxic gas detection range for the High Tech markets features detectors and controllers that use advanced technologies for detecting hundreds of gases, including hydrides, trifluorides and other semiconductor gases. Honeywell's toxic gas monitoring products are the industry's most complete and includes solutions using infrared spectroscopy with no cross-interference to Chemcassette paper tape colorimetric technology, offering detection down to parts per billion levels. Applications include semiconductor manufacturing and nanotechnology, photovoltaic cell production, aerospace propulsion and safety, specialty chemicals, academic and industrial research labs, and emergency response.

    We are the Green Factory!

    IA Nanjing factory was recognized as provincial "Green Factory" in 2023 with joint efforts of all departments and all levels.

    Based on the evaluation indexes of green factory of MIIT, the plant carries out green factory training and organizes the declaration and evaluation process. Internal documents were managed comprehensively, including development strategy, objectives, operation management and logistic service logs. In terms of resources and energy, the plant did a great job in promoting and implementing energy-saving projects, recycling materials, and improving the production efficiency of raw materials and energy. The plant also drives process innovation and reduction of pollutant emissions.

    For innovation, research and development of green production processes were implemented to reduce toxic and hazardous substance emission in production process. The factory will continue to carry out practices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions with accordance to ISO14064 and ISO14067. Social responsibility is always one of the factory’s main focuses and its continuous fulfillment is reassured.
    Nanjing factory has been continuously carrying out energy saving and emission reduction actions, including promoting the implication of energy management system, real-time online monitoring and utility alarm, timely checkup and analysis of energy-consuming equipment operation, upgrading and renovating old equipment and introducing new energy-saving technologies. For example, replacing inefficient units and central air-conditioning unit with new energy-efficient central air-conditioning system, replacing EC fans, and replacing air-conditioning fans with new energy-efficient cooling system.
    The central air-conditioning system replaces the old low energy-efficiency units and the central air-conditioning fogging cooling system, the clean workshop has no energy consumption cooling in autumn and winter, the EC fan replaces and reforms, and the air pressure and dryer comprehensive control is reformed. In addition to this, work area lighting was controlled by zones, leaks in the compressed air network were screened and rectified, and on-site valves that could be shut down after shifts were identified and tagged to be shut down by the site at the right time. The factory also completed the water balance test, added and improved 2-stage water meter to rationally control the water consumption, and replaced the campus lighting system to solar-powered models.
